About a year ago I bought the Reality plug-in for DAZ Studio and since then I've completely abandoned the native 3Delight render engine. Not only Luxrender is far superior in the results but Reality makes really easy to set-up the surfaces for the render, it is even better than the surface tool of DAZ Studio. Obviously it had some small issues, so I was eagerly waiting for the new version to come out: if the version 2.5 was fantastic the next release (numbered 4, the 3 was skipped) should have been superlative.
Well, guess what? The new version is a complete delusion, sadly I bought it from Renderosity so there is no possibility to ask for a refund otherwise I would return this complete waste of money.
The major advantage of Reality was the semplicity of its interface and the linearity of the workflow, it was simple to do complex things... it is disheartening to see how an excellent piece of software was ruined by a cumbersome user interface, where to simply change the color of a surface requires to read the manual at least three times (and I'm not yet sure how to do it). There are some new things about the volumetric effects like fog and smoke but the manual says almost nothing and links to a sort of video tutorial, nice to see but totally useless when you're looking for actual informations.
The new version was probably still in beta stage when it was issued, not only it crashes rendering scenes that were perfectly fine with the previous version, it also has a lot of bugs: it creates cameras at random that are not in the scene, it randomly ignores the changes you make in the surfaces and... I got tired and went back to 2.5.
As I said, a total waste of money. I'll wait to see if there are some fixes at least for the countless bugs, but I don't think I'll use it much, especially because the convoluted user interface.
The new version is surely powerful, it can create many type of surfaces, it can perform math (!) operations between textures to create a new texture and many other fancy things, and I'm sure all this required a lot of work by the developer's team. But I'm not sure how much it is appreciated when even a simple task like to change the specularity of a surface becomes so complex.

I used to give thanks to any one who faved my images or added me to their watching list. After my long absence from here I found a gazillion of new favourites, watchers and messages, and give a reply to all of them is an overhelming job I simply can't do :-)
So let my give a big TAHNK YOU to all my friends who bother to come here to see my stuff, add it to their favorites, watch me or take the time to leave a comment to these images I don't even dare to call art (actually: mainly sexy naked girls, sometimes trains or railway stuff, some sci-fi things, rarely some dramatic scenes :D ).

Hi all guys, I’m finally back.
I had an hard disk failure on my computer so I started to reinstall DAZ Studio and alla the 3d stuff on a new hard disk, but I never finished because I went really busy with my job. On August 2016 a major earthquake struck central Italy when I live, I suffered no damages but since I am a civil engineer I was (and still I am) quite busy in the emergency recovery and reconstruction.
Now that things are starting to go slightly slower I have more time to bother you all with my 3D images. I bought a new and shiny MacBook Pro and rebuilt almost completely my old 3D library, I have to re-learn some things sin

Some time ago I upgraded my Reality 2.5 to the new version 4. It was a big delusion, it was full of bugs and the new interface was a bit, uhm... not user friendly, but since I'm always an optimist I awaited for some bug corrections and, maybe, some way to make the user's life a bit easier in doing simple tasks like changing the specularity of a surface. I also thought that, in the end, I'll become accustomed to the new interface and I'll start enjoying the "improvements" introduced by the new version. And, in fact, there is the new 4.0.5 version that... corrects nothing :no: The most annoying bug is the fact that, each time I modify the scen

Sono un utente Poser, e ho preso Reality per Poser, e anche Octane Plugin per Poser, devo dire che non c'è paragone. Octane è sicuramente meglio.
